Meet The Committee
Hi everyone! I'm a second year Economics and Finance student who loves, both reading and writing, Urdu and English poetry. My writings usually feature concepts of 'identity' and 'home', but when it comes to reading, I'm more fond of humorous pieces!
Fun fact, I'm a bit of an explorer and travel a lot (lived in 7 cities across the globe so far!). So, if you want to know about cool places around Leeds, or just want to chat spoken word over a cup of coffee then feel free to drop a message!
Hey everyone, I’m a second year English Lit student and I’m interested in the way spoken word reconceptualizes and enlivens traditional forms of poetry. That said, my own writing usually tends to feature me grousing about my love life.
I’m on committee because I want to build a greater focus in the society on confidence and skill building.
Feel free to reach out and connect!
Hey everyone! I’m Francis, a Mechanical Engineering MSc student at the university and your treasurer for this year! I’ve been involved in spoken word for a few years now and taken part in a bunch of awesome programmes and festivals. My writing has focused on various things throughout the years, but these days it tends to explore my Ugandan upbringing, growing up in London and elements of mental health from masculine perspectives.
I’ll be doing my part to make sure everyone can grow in this creative and supportive space! Feel free to holla at me if you want to know anything or just want to chat, I’m pretty chill (sometimes too chill)!
Hello there, I’m Dannie and I am on the Open Seat for the committee. As a PhD student studying structural biology I like to combine my passion for science, philosophy and psychology in my poetry, and I enjoy exploring consilience between them as integrative aspects of spirituality.
I have been a fan of spoken word for a long time and have recently engaged with this fulfilling form of self-expression. I really enjoy this environment for connecting and creating, and I will be working with the others to continue its cultivation. I’m super friendly so feel free to say hi :)
Social Media Secretary
Hi everybody!!, I’m Shreya Narayanam? a second year Business management student and your social media secretary for the year!
